Are you a fan of daytime TV chat-shows or do you absolutely hate them? Tamás Dömötör has chosen quite an easy subject, the world of these weird media products, and has put it into a difficult frame.

The movie is built around two tragedies: one is of a family, based on Milán Füst’s play, The Unhappy Ones (Boldogtalanok), and a hidden second tragedy of how these real (?) life dramas are labeled and sold and eventually made to become a product you can sell to make money.
Arrogant and authentic, the film has caused a stir in Budapest’s cinema scene, getting both standing ovations as well as more than negative reviews. The question is: are we really like this? Can this movie be a mirror to our contemporary society or do these chat-shows overemphasize only the wrong and so create a self-fulfilling mechanism?
You either see this televised family drama-confession-manipulation combo as a feature-length installment of a Jerry Springer Show, or an unveiling of the evil mechanism of the media.
Well, until May 19th, all we’ll leave you with is Mr. Springer’ signature line: “Take care of yourselves aaand each other!”
