Continuing our series on tea, we would like to recommend a few special tea recipes to try at home. If we’ve piqued your interest or you’re feeling adventurous, give these tasty variations a try. They are easy to create at home and make for unique drinks that can be enjoyed with a good book or served to guests. From a zingy ginger blend to tea punch, there is plenty to enjoy!
Orange Spiced Tea
8 cups of water
1/2 tsp. whole cloves
1 stick of cinnamon, broken into pieces
9 level teaspoons of black tea
sugar to taste
1/2 cup orange juice
Juice of 2 small lemons
cheese cloth
1/2 tsp. whole cloves

Tie up cloves and cinnamon stick in cheese cloth. Add to water and bring to a boil. Pour onto the tea and allow to brew for 5 minutes. Strain tea and stir in fruit juices and sugar to taste. Place a thin orange slice in each cup before serving tea.
Hot Zing Tea
2 black tea bags
2 cups hot water
1/8 – 1/4 cup ginger, preferably fresh
1/2 cup cranberries
1/2 cup cranberry juice
Pinch nutmeg
Steep tea, ginger and cranberries in water for 15 minutes. Then strain, add nutmeg and warmed cranberry juice. Serve hot.
Tea Punch
1 cup white sugar
1 cup strongly brewed black tea
4 cups orange juice
4 cups pineapple juice
4 cups prepared lemonade
1 (2 liter) bottle ginger ale, chilled
Brew tea and mix all ingredients to taste.
Hot Apple Mint Tea
1 1/2 cups apple cider
5 tea bags or 5 tsp. loose tea
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh mint or 1 tsp. dried mint
2 1/2 cups water
5 tea bags or 5 tsp. loose tea
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh mint or 1 tsp. dried mint
2 1/2 cups water
In a medium saucepan, bring apple cider and water to a rolling boil. Remove from heat and add tea and mint. Let steep 3 to 5 minutes and stir. Pour tea through a fine strainer and serve.
