Choreographed by the much-loved Yvette Bozsik, Death and the Maiden introduces a passionate relationship by depicting an abstract representation of eroticism: in their pas de deux, Death and the young Maiden complement each other – they can’t exist without each other, they perfect themselves by consuming each other.
Another Yvette Bozsik choreography, The Wedding’s visual world reflects the paradoxical fear of both the attractive unknown of the union and worrying about dependence. The four pictures – The Blessing of the Bride, the Blessing of the Bridegroom, the Departure of the Bride and the Wedding Feast – present a conventional Russian village wedding regulated by its rites and rituals.
