The Noble Passion of Collecting – Art Works from Private Hungarian Collections

In 1907 the glass hall of the museum was crammed with European and oriental art works from private collections. The current exhibition gives visitors a detailed picture of contemporary art collecting. With approximately 600 works of art from 65 private collections, it embraces the whole scale of applied arts from the Middle Ages to the present day. The artwork includes, among others, Gothic wooden statues, Herend and Zsolnay porcelain, Japanese woodblock prints, Art Deco furniture and oriental ceramics from the cargo of sunken ships.
