A month after Greedy Thursday, you have another excuse for stuffing yourself silly until you feel unable to move for a decade or two (no need to fret just yet, the dreadful bikini season is still months away)… A fat bunch of restaurants and cafés, all located in the new high street of Budapest have teamed up to bring you Greedy High Street, a whole week of wallet-friendly indulgence. Between March 22nd and 28th, have a filling lunch at half price (between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.) in such restaurants as the legendary Kárpátia or hip Borssó Bistro, then grab a creamy coffee along with a piece of cake between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at one of the participating cafés and patisseries. Yum.
In case you wonder where this new high street is, it connects tastefully Vígszínház tér and Kálvin tér (including Szabadság tér, Október 6. utca, Erzsébet tér as well as Ferenciek tere and Kecskeméti utca – a 36,000-square-meter pedestrian area!) and is so new that it’s not even finished yet. The opening ceremony is not far away, though (unlike that of Metro line 4, annoyingly), as the final touches are being put to the section between Kálvin tér and Szabadság tér, which is due to be finished by early April.
