According to The New Yorker, “Jim Hall is the reigning master of the jazz guitar. This poetic player says more with a few notes than any living composer.” High praise indeed, but why take their word for it, as he’s coming to town. Dubbed one of the greatest living jazz guitarists, the maestro’s been making records for almost half a century. He’s worked with a who’s who of the jazz world, from Sonny Rollins to Pat Metheny, played everywhere from the Village Vanguard to the White House, and his live and recorded collaborations with Bill Evans, Paul Desmond, and Ron Carter are legendary. Not only is Jim Hall one of the jazz scene’s favorite guitarists, he’s also earned much critical acclaim for his skills as a composer and arranger.

Local jazz mainstay, the Kovács Linda Quartet deliver modern, mainstream jazz, and is made up entirely of graduates of Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc Music Academy. Their sound’s evidently influenced by American avant-garde, free jazz and European modern jazz, while vocal and instrumental improvisation play an integral part.
