Spicy Moroccan Cooking Workshops

After having swallowed the last bit of your oh-so-flavorsome meal in a restaurant, have you ever thought to yourself, “Aargh, I’ll never be able to cook anything that even comes close to this by myself…”?

This is even more the case if your meal was an adventure into foreign culinary territory and not a familiar-tasting local affair, after which you can always turn to your grandma/mom to help you polish up your cooking skills. No need to despair though, for FUNZINE and Sofitel have joined forces to spice up your culinary repertoire by bringing you the Moroccan Cooking Workshops in April.

That’s right, Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge has put together a cooking course for you on the occasion of their Moroccan Week, determined to introduce you to the basic preparation methods of the most characteristic dishes of Moroccan cuisine, famed for its sweet-savory flavors and unusual, subtle medley of spices and herbs. The two-hour cooking workshops will be held between April 20th and 23rd, starting at 5 p.m. every afternoon, and cost 8,600 HUF per person. As you’d expect, the courses will be taught by the master chefs of Sofitel Marrakesh Hotel, Ahmed Ed-Deffaa and Kaltoum El-Kay who will be flying to B-town straight from North Africa.

So get your aprons at the ready and learn about a cuisine that is often rated among the best in the world. Please note that the workshop on the 22nd is already fully booked. Hurry up, we say, and register to avoid boo-hooing. Call +36.1.235.56.00/797 or drop a line to h3229-am@sofitel.com!

The menu consists of the following dishes:
• Haira: The signature soup of Morocco, which is made of gravy, chick-peas and lentils and is fragrantly seasoned with some tomato and a combination of robust fresh herbs and spices, such as ginger, cinnamon, coriander and parsley.
• Chicken-lemon tajine: Another scrumptious traditional dish, chicken-lemon tajine is stewed slowly for several hours to preserve most of the flavors. A distinctively seasoned, saucy dish.
• Cinnamon flavored orange salad: An unusual combination of flavors and scents for your calorie-counting and/or veggie friends.
