Erzsébet Vojnich’s private exhibition of selected works from the past seven years can be viewed in the Hamilton Aulich Art Gallery through April 24th. The powerful paintings of the artist – who won the Munkácsy Award – can be found in many state collections including the Hungarian National Gallery, the Győr Municipal Museum of Art, and in the Ludwig Museum.
Most of her works depict empty interior spaces, places created by man, but where humans are not present at the moment. The forms and the dramatic teamwork of dark tones and light can initiate exciting thoughts in the viewer. She explores space as if comes alive itself, yet is at peace without human presence, making use of strong contrasts.
