Brains: the exciting experimental drum n bass crew that set the standard in Budapest’s underground electronic scene. And Tudósok: a quirky, alternative group that sing strange songs about strange things that we have to confess to not understanding most of the time.
The wedding date was set. The cake was made and the blushing bride and handsome groom were ready to tie the knot and then make sweet musical-love. Why then was this “match made in heaven” such a damp squib?
Tudósok played some songs and the audience started to get into but, as you might expect from the title of the night, many of the crowd were more eager to see Brains. Still, you thought to yourself, even if Tudósok are playing a little bit too long, they’ll be finished soon enough and then we can soon dance like five-year-olds high on additives to some phat beats from Brains.
Brains came on stage, smiled at Tudósok and the night of consummation seemed to be going well after the first song. They played another, the room was bouncing, the crowd were waving their arms (proving that no one can dance well to d n b) and then… well, they went off stage. We got another number by Tudósok. Time for a smoke outside on deck we thought. Then it finished. The end, good night, goodbye, go home, party over, thanks a lot for your HUF. The result was that many people felt a wee bit ripped off and mislead. It wasn’t the great meeting it was billed as and we got nowhere near enough Brains. A nice idea, very poorly executed.
