Philippe Le Belge

Fancy a true Belgian treat? No, this time, it’s not about chocolate. Chef Philippe Del Mestre features authentic Belgian cuisine in his restaurant in the heart of the Magyar capital.

He believes in the old-school way of running a restaurant; personal, friendly and honest, oh, and ideally, the chef should be the owner as he’s the one who knows what’s it all about. His dream is to introduce locals to the food he grew up loving…

The menu showcases traditional Belgian dishes, seafood plates using only the freshest organic ingredients and Hungarian fare, too. However, with a little Philippe-twist of less fat and a pinch of fantasy. Philippe puts his passion into cooking and women (aye, that’s why he’s here in Budapest, so we can thank a certain Veronika for having this colorful addition to Budapest’s resto-scene). Most of the food is cooked in the open kitchen, right in front of you, so you can watch and learn as well as get assured about the quality and expertise of Chef Philippe and the staff.

The weekly menu features a three course meal, but there are also a range of special menus, the likes of the Gourmet, the Sea, the Veggie and Philippe’s Surprise Menu (picks from Philippe’s fave recipes). Oh, and every so often, he throws in a special event such as a wine tasting. By the way, you can get wine pairing with your menu, too (highly recommended) with vinos from hidden gems of France as well as some fine Hungarian nectars.

Meet Philippe in his world at “one of the most delicious spots in Pest”, as he describes it. Sit back and enjoy being his guest!
