On Hollywood’s hot topic of the war on terror, Vantage Point builds a story through the eyes of several different witnesses to one common event. Set in Spain, world leaders have come together to form an alliance in the war on terror. The film jumps straight into the action, with the assassination of the president of the United States as he takes the stage. The acting is well done, including performances from Dennis Quaid, Forest Whitaker, Sigourney Weaver, and Edward Noriega. This is a fresh approach to the ever-popular and abundant action thriller genre, using style and technique to create something new to keep audiences guessing just what really happened.

Fool’s Gold
Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have joined forces again in this romantic comedy-adventure. Ben Finn Finnegan (McConaughey) is a surf bum devoted to finding a treasure lost at sea. He’s pretty much sunk everything he’s got into his obsession, and just as his wife begins to rebuild her life, separate from him and the treasure hunt, he gets a tip that leads them both back into the search, now with the help of a billionaire yacht owner, Tess (Hudson) works for. While the story is not the strongest, the view is nice, including the beaches of Bermuda and the bathing-suit clad actors. Go see it for light entertainment or a dose of much needed sunshine.

An action thriller, Street Kings is the story of a veteran LAPD cop, Tom Ludlow (Keanu Reeves), who has always followed the rules. But, when his wife is murdered, he finds himself having difficulty navigating life. He sets out to find the murderers of his former partner and finds himself in the hot situation of being accused of the murder. Ludlow begins to question the loyalties of his fellow police officers and who really has control in the city. It’s a typical police thriller with a twist, taking advantage of the always relevant question of ethics. For fans of Reeves, the high-action is sure to keep you entertained.

Adapted by Francisco Gózon and József Sipos from the book by Sándor Márai, Eszter hagyatéka is the story of a descendent of the noble class, who seems to possess everlasting beauty. Played by Eszter Nagy-Kálózy, she does not expect anything from life since it somehow ended for her when her love, the unfaithful fraud Lajos (György Cserhalmi), married her sister. Twenty years later, Lajos sends a telegram that he is coming to visit Eszter. The drama unfolds on the screen in a manner that attempts to honor the work of one of Hungary’s most significant writers. The film can be seen in Hungarian with English subtitles at MOM Park only.
