The story of the Lenkey Winery goes back to 1999, and their adventure is definitely not an ordinary one.
It’s colored by peaceful days (and bitter ones, too), hope and success. In 1999, they bought a total of 10 hectares of vineyeards in Tokaj-Hegyalja, Mád and Bodrogkeresztúr.
The harvest starts in September by selecting the grapes according to vintage, slopes and quality, and it lasts until the end of November when they harvest the aszú grapes (meaning they leave the grapes on the plant until a bit over-ripened).
Their winery is a traditional hillside cellar, built in the 1500s, and their barrels, varying from 250-500 liters, are made of Zemplén oak, and before the barells are constructed, the wood stays outside for at least two years.

An Amazing Aszú
A golden medalist at the wine contest Vinagora in 2008, this aszú wine was ripened for two years in oak barrels. It was the first aszú for which they used hárslevelű vintage instead of furmint as the combining wine. This sweet wine specialty from the renowned Tokaj region has a 10.04% alcohol content, and in 2002, 972 bottles were made from 10 hectares.
