For the first time since its founding in 1987, the collection of paintings housed in the Kálmán Imre Museum will leave their hometown of Siófok (by Lake Balaton) and will be on display at a temporary exhibition at Symbol Gallery.
The Imre Kálmán Memorial House was the birthplace of the great composer of its namesake. In addition to period furniture, the master’s piano is on display, as are his original scores, some of his personal belongings and numerous mementos of famous artists performing the operettas he composed. Besides depictions of Lake Balaton itself, there will also be a range of curiosities from painters István Csók, József Egry, Merse Pál Színyei, Szőnyi István, Ákos Matzon and Attila Csáji. The exhibition in Budapest will be opened by sculptor Imre Varga.
