“Sorry, this isn’t off the beaten track, but I’m a simple person who appreciates when the food isn’t compulsorily fancy-smancy… I especially love that the food isn’t too salty and that there’s never an oil-puddle at the bottom of my plate – not even the vocabulary of my mother tongue could describe how much I can’t stand the latter! And show me a place where Somlói is better prepared, and with heaps of whipped cream too – I dare you!”

Alexandrea – Castro Bistro
“I’ve been in Budapest for three months, and have discovered many of the savory dishes and delights many restaurants have to offer. Although it’s hard to single out my favorite, I think I’d have to say Castro Bistro. I take all my visitors there and they enjoy it just as much as I do. The menu’s unique and offers great quality, and there’s a certain spunkiness to it. The atmosphere also has such individuality; as if it were a rebel, trying to find a way in the world… Arty types and an after work crowd looking for an escape all seem to gather at this funky spot.”

“I love this quaint little restaurant because it has an intimate feeling and the food is phenomenal. I also highly enjoy the wine and champagne selection. I had a Tokaji that was to die for! The outdoor section is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a meal when the weather’s nice.”
