Encased by soon-to-be-opened shops, the noise of Budapest’s traffic and drunken stag parties leaves you behind as you enter Gozsdu Terasz off Király utca. The tradition of opening up bars in places where you wouldn’t expect to find a bar goes posh!
There’s something quite fun about sinking a couple of beers in the doorway of a shop that you’re not cool enough to buy clothes from once it opens up. There’s usually DJs spinning different tunes in different rooms, and the bar staff don’t chuck you out until very late, and they even do that with a smile. Free high-speed wi-fi for those hot afternoon “working from home” sessions and a suitably diverse range of drinks are on offer. The best thing about this place however, is the ability to run around the seven different courtyards, after a fröccs too many, playing hide-and-seek at 1 in the morning.
