St. Patrick’s the patron saint of Ireland, touted as responsible for banishing all the snakes from Ireland. Some say the legend’s false, but female BKV checkers must have come from somewhere. St. Patrick’s Day, traditionally celebrated on March 17th, is a religious feast day and the anniversary of the saint’s death, way back in the fifth century.
The Irish have observed it as a “religious holiday” for over 1,000 years… they also like to use it as an excuse to drink. Lots.
So, in true metropolitan spirit, we’ll be throwing our very own St. Paddy’s Day Party, minus the religious connotations plus loads of Irish whiskey. We’ve lined up DJs Sanyi and Mada (they’ve just about recovered from the FUNZINE Mashquerade after keeping the dancefloor packed till dawn) and loads of Jameson – free welcome drinks and an all-night-long whiskey promotion. It’s also your chance to get lucky and win a pair of tickets to Dublin, courtesy of Malév (you’ll need to register for the competition by sending your name to stpatrick@funzine.hu by March 18th).
Rules: One person can play with one email address only, until the deadline. The prize ceremony will be on the night, so be there or we’ll choose another lucky soul! Those participating give Malév consent to use their data for promotional use. There’ll also be a Jameson raffle, which you can enter on the spot to win Jameson goodies and, yep, whiskey. St. Patrick’s themed face painting will be on offer, too, and you’re all invited to rock up in your best leprechaun get-up. Green togs will also suffice…
