Taking a dive into the ethos of Essl Award-nominated painter Eszter Sipos is a voyage into memories of childhood experiences, friends and close persons that examine the self-images of women formed by mass media influence.
At once both surrealist and entirely realistic, the depictions of mostly interior spaces keeps the emphasis on the idea of lady-like personality. As the artist explains, “My target is the woman who is violently shaped by the flood of women magazines, advertisements and movie images. Sometimes she camouflages herself as a victim, other times as one of Charlie’s Angels.”
