Bright colors, bold patterns, daring patchworks, light-hearted and breezy shapes, all shouting “Life is great!”… That’s right, ladies, the spring collection of Desigual, the Barcelona-based clothing chain, has finally crossed the Hungarian border, bringing jazzy Spanish flare to the Magyar capital.
The new line is available at the Legends store of Budapest’s WestEnd and Allee shopping centers as well as at Árkád in Győr.
Founded by Swiss national Thomas Meyer in 1984 with the aim of creating a vibrant, cheerful, original brand at accessible prices, Desigual has become something of a household name in Spain in next to no time thanks to its fresh, eclectic and spontaneous style. Always ready to take chances and venture into new directions, the brainchild of Meyer is now present in 65 countries worldwide (boasting about 7,000 multi-brands stores and 200 own-brand shops) and has attracted a loyal following from London to New York, Singapore to Cairo. True to the label’s name (‘desigual’ translates as ‘different, not the same’), each garment has a personality of its own and carries the potential of a loud fashion statement.
Although Desigual creates funky clothes and accessories for women, men as well as the little ones, for now, only women’s clothing is available in Hungary, unfortunately. Sorry guys! The Woman Spring 2010 Collection goes back to the roots of the brand and is driven by the concept ‘hand-made’. The garments, resembling DIY items, are all handcrafted, 100% contemporary but made with traditional methods and techniques.
The attention to detail is evident and makes the ultimate difference – think embroidered buttons, quirky seams, crochet patchwork, raw edges and elaborate embellishments. Do you dare to be different this spring?
