This remake of Boys (Les hommes caches) – or Fiúk, to use its Hungarian title – involves three ropes to the sky and four men on stage.
Beyond being a striking piece about the masculine body and the use of spaces and falls as tools of choreographic expression, Boys is an immersion into the unconscious of men and boys – a research into the very foundations of the common inheritance that feeds the construction of man as a social animal.
By calling up alternately male chauvinist violence, stupid pretentiousness, the balance of power that structures our exchanges with others, both men and women, Pál Frenák offers us a somehow desperate, radical vision of human relationships. Once again, he presents a show – the theatrical dimensions of which are almost cinematographic in conception – which is the expression of his intuitive knowledge of human functions, a kind of direct access to the unconscious as well as a merciless social vision.
