Mama Records, the same label that brought you Hungry for Hungary? is back with another compilation of underground and lesser-known Hungarian artists from just about every genre, representing the vast spectrum and ability of Hungarian musical artists. The two-CD collection, entitled We Are Magyar, is a fantastic introduction to many of the non-mainstream acts that are making a name for the country on musical terms.
The first CD is comprised mostly of traditional, folk, jazz, reggae and world music by the likes of Cimbaliband, Etnorom, Singas Project and Irie Maffia, while the second disc is a grandiose reservoir of pop, rock, indie, electro and other unclassifiable anomalies from such artists as Bori Péterfy, Bëlga, EZ Basic and DJ Bootsie. If you’re interested in getting another taste of the terrific range and abilities of Hungarian musicians, We Are Magyar Vol. 2 is a must-get.
