Hungary’s much acclaimed accordion player, Zoltán Orosz, received the prestigious award from the Hungarian Radio, the eMeRTon prize, and his band was declared The Nostalgia Band of the Year, in 2000.
Their repertoire includes masterpieces by the world’s most acclaimed accordion players and composers, the likes of Simone Zanchini, Richard Galliano, and Astor Piazzolla, as well as the band’s own improvisational tunes. Free improvisation is the most characteristic feature of the Zoltán Orosz and Friends band; at any time, any instrument might go into a solo, and sometimes more of them might engage in a ‘conversation’ with each other. Beautiful, as a result of highly skilled artists, it’s a perfect way to kick off a cultural 2010.
