A füredi Anna-bál / Anna Ball in Füred

„A füredi Anna-bálon szól a zeneszó…” egészen pontosan 1825. július 26. óta. Az Anna-bál az egyik legnagyobb hagyományú és legelegánsabb társadalmi összejövetel az országban. Krúdy novelláját követve a bált megelőző pénteken, a Balatoni Szívhalászaton a vendégek a fellampionozott Kelén fedélzetéről próbálják kipecázni kedvesük nevét a vízből.

. Szombaton, a 184. Anna-bálon megelevenedik a Reformkor hangulata, a bálozók pompázatos díszletek, fenséges ételek és italok közt mulathatnak. Az Anna-bál már nem tölti be eredeti funkcióját, hiszen az eladósorba került lányokat már nem kell bevezetni a társaságba, inkább csak hagyományőrző és reprezentatív szerepe van. Minden évben megválasztják a bál királynőjét és udvarhölgyeit, akik másnap hintón vonulnak végig a városon. Szerencsére az Anna-bál nemcsak a kevés kiválasztott szórakozása, a Vitorlás téren igazi össznépi utcabált is rendeznek.

“Music is flowing at the Anna Ball in Balatonfüred…,” goes the popular Hungarian song. It does indeed, and has been since July 26th 1825, to be precise. The Anna Ball is the most elegant and exclusive social gathering of Hungary, boasting the longest tradition of its kind in the country. Following a short story of Gyula Krúdy, on the Friday preceding the ball, the guests set out on Kele, the oldest boats of Balaton, decorated with lanterns for the occasion and try to fish out the name of their sweetheart carved into wooden hearts. Then, on Saturday, the 184th Anna Ball will kick off, evoking the atmosphere of the early 19th century. Beautiful setting, luscious food and drinks… Although the ball’s original function, that is, introducing maidens to high society, has faded, it still the event in Balatonfüred. The belle of the ball and her maids are selected even today, who ride across the town in a carriage the next day. Fortunately, the fun is not restricted to the ballroom: there will be a bustling street festival on Vitorlás Square for us common folk as well.
