A topography of junk. That is how Anna Toth and the 30 young Hungarian art students describe their inspiring exhibit at Millenáris. In a sharp contrast of themes, the artists create the perception of a livable future using industrial and home waste materials.
Addressing such issues as recycling, ecopolitics and social tolerance, ‘trash’ becomes a useful commodity for the future and the aesthetics for this recycled utopia are questioned. The exhibition is presented in two parts, one showing the anxieties for the future and the other stressing the importance of tolerance. Using collages, the pieces represent themes from alternate segments of time and space. Through the exhibit, there are various sound effects including natural sounds, and songs from both Hungary and France.
