A Ball and 100 Gipsies

The most opulent way to see in the New Year in town, The Hungarian State Opera House’s New Year’s Eve Ball will be luxuriating its way into 2010.

On the bill will be a gala show presenting excerpts from the Johann Strauss operetta, The Bat, performed by well-known singers and ballet soloists, the choir and the orchestra of the State Opera. The evening will be hosted by RTL Klub TV presenters Mariann Peller and Zoltán Szujó, and following the gala show dinner will be served by the legendary Gundel Restaurant. At midnight, the ball will be opened by the customary Waltz, and after the hailing in of midnight, Netti and the Hollander Band will play until dawn. Alongside all this, in the main foyer, world-champion mixer András Lajsz and his team will be shaking up high-end cocktails to the Latino rhythms of the Patrizio Baeza Band. A guaranteed going out with a classy bang in a knock-out building – just don’t forget a killer frock or tails.
