Those responsible readers who are scanning through our little mag properly are already familiar with the story of St. Martin and his geese. How humble he was, how he refused to be promoted the bishop of Tours and hid in a barn, but the geese gave him away with their quacking… However, there’s much more to know about the festivities. A good recipe, shall we say?
You might have also heard the St. Martin’s Day saying that goes ‘those who don’t eat goose on St. Martin’s Day will be hungry for the rest of the year’. And we surely don’t want that. So we’ve teamed up with Kárpátia to bring you a top-notch idea for what to cook.
After your lip-smacking dinner (and all the compliments from your dinner companions), you can carry on with St. Martin’s traditions and try to forecast how the winter’s gonna look. If the bone of your crispy goose drumstick is long and white, we’ll have a long and snowy winter, if it’s short and brown, it’s going to be a muddy one. Oh, and as November 11th is also the day of new wine, grab a glass and drink a toast to geese (R.I.P)!
Not the cooking type? No problem, Kárpátia will make sure you won’t be left without goose goodies on St. Martin’s Day. From November 11th, they await you with goose specialties and excellent Hungarian new wines to taste. If you’re up for a real St. Martin’s party, make sure you book your table at Kárpátia for November 11th, as they’re organizing a St. Martin’s wine dinner with a five-course meal where you’ll be able to sample the top-notch new wines of Halmosi Winery from Szekszárd.
