You Don’t Mess with the Zohan
Fans of Adam Sandler’s adolescent comedies will get the same dose of potty humor that they are used to with You Don’t Mess with the Zohan. Sandler plays foreign special agent, Zohan Dvir who faked his own death in order to move to New York City and become a hair dresser. Hopefully viewers will quickly understand that the stereotypes are purposely outrageous to show just how absurd they are. If you know Adam Sandler movies, you know what to expect, and you will get exactly that from Zohan. As usual, John Turturro and Rob Schneider have their usual eccentric roles as Zohan’s nemesis and an Arab cab driver.

After a hiatus the musical is thankfully back, as Hollywood realizes that people go to the cinema to have a good time. And that’s exactly what this musical romantic comedy is all about. The story line is brilliantly absurd, following the troubled wedding preparations of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) as she tries to find out which one of her mother’s past lovers is her father in time for her big day. It’s a race against time that she won’t win and so she invites all three potential fathers to the ceremony to see what happens. Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and the king of the rom-com Colin Firth turn out good performances.

WALL-E
PIXAR has done it again with, WALL-E a.k.a. Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class and the last robot on earth. After meeting Eve, WALL-E no longer wants to spend his time collecting knick-knacks and sets out across the galaxy on an adventure meeting a cast of characters along the way. Unexpectedly, this is not just another animated film, but pleasantly surprises with an innovative plot, in-depth characters and the usual flawless animation. With jokes and emotions that reach all age levels, this film evokes feelings for the characters and thoughts about life and love that viewers would not expect from an animated film.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe
Ten years after the movie and six years after the series ended, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are back and so are David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The screenplay was co-written by the series creator Chris Carter and the creators have gone to great lengths to keep plot spoilers and specifics under wraps. Following the style of the show, the movie is a stand-alone story, so don’t worry if you’re not up-to-date on your Mulder and Scully knowledge. The two have the same complicated relationship as we remember as they embark on their never-ending quest to find the truth.
