If you had just five minutes on stage, what would you say? What if you only had 20 slides and they rotated automatically every 15 seconds? That’s the essence of Ignite, a series of hugely successful events already underway in 50 cities around the world.
In 2006, two American guys threw what they’ve termed “a geek night” in their home town. They called it Ignite Seattle. About 200 people joined them for an evening of speech-based geek contests, five-minute talks and beer. They’ve been hosting them ever since. Since its humble beginnings, Ignite has spread to over 60 cities, and Budapest’s one of them.
This March, Ignite means national business, as the first ever Global Ignite Week will be taking place, aiming to bring together as many local Ignites as possible. There are currently almost 40 scheduled from March 1st through the 4th, spanning the globe – so far, its represented on four continents and in 10 countries. You’ll be able to watch them streaming online, daily. Even better, you can get involved in Budapest’s third Ignite event, taking place during the week.
The organisers are still looking for participants.
