Sustainable development, eco-awareness, and going green, green, green. What’d be a better combination for all this than recycling, art and youth?!
In the frame of an international project, an exhibition called New Revolution – Recycle Again! will be opening on January 16th, showcasing the works of Magyar and Italian applied art students in the VAM Design Center, on happening Király utca.
The event will mark the start of a two-year long cooperation between the Hungarian Budapest School of Fine and Applied Arts and the Italian Istituto Statale D’arte Fausto Melotti through the Budapest based Tempus Public Foundation. The project, financed by the European Union, is based on the central theme of recycling.
And the result? Fantasy-packed smoke dresses, tape pillows, drinking cans turned into jewelry and many more quirkily loveable and useable creations. These objects showcase the creativity and the philosophy of the youngest generation of designers here, and at the exhibition we’ll see ideas that none other but a teenager could come up with.
The young talents of the ten best Magyar creations will travel to Cantu in April, and similarly the ten best Italian students will visit their Hungarian fellows in 2011 to exchange ideas on their work.
The results of the project will be on display in the frame of several exhibitions, the first one being at the VAM Design Center.
Expect an eco-conscious fashion show no less glittery than a Milan catwalk and a concert delivered by the choruses of the participating schools (basically, the artists themselves) playing on their own creations: funky musical instruments made from waste.
