Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy offers vocational training in contemporary dance to the highest technical and artistic standards and up-to-date, all-round training that aims at educating team-spirited dancers, choreographers and pedagogues.
The traditional December evening brings choreographies that carry the enthusiasm and fresh ideas of a new generation of dancers. Haidau is one of the many implement-driven martial arts-like weapon dances of the Carpathian Basin, now presented in a contemporary version.
Anyone – Does he love me or simply “a woman”? Does she need me, or merely “a man”? Here, this issue is addressed and reset.
Set and Reset/Reset – Two of the original cast members of pioneering postmodern choreographer, Trisha Brown’s emblematic work, Set and Reset, Éva Karczag and Vicky Shick, taught a group of dancers of the Budapest Dance School exact sequences from this 1983 piece, and then engaged them in the same unique protocol that Brown asked her dancers to utilize during its formation. The dancers then generated their own moves, which were shaped into Set and Reset/Reset, a variation on the original choreography. Here, the dancers are an integral part of both the creative process and the end result.
