CineFest of Miskolc, one of Central Europe’s biggest film events for young filmmakers, will celebrate its fifth anniversary in September 2008.
The organizers are looking forward to the opportunity to meet young people in the film industry again in Northern Hungary. This is a unique, fresh festival, where young filmmakers – coming from all the various fields of the motion picture industry – can bring their feature films, short films, documentaries, experimental films and animations to compete with their contemporaries.
In the past years, the International Festival of Young Filmmakers won the reputation of the region’s freshest and the most familiar film festival – in the real sense of the word.
Every year, there are several hundred entries, representing all the continents and coming from as far as Japan and Mexico and the farthest corners of the world. In addition to the screenings that take place, participants have the chance to enjoy numerous cultural programs arranged for the festival.
In 2008 the festival is soliciting entries on the theme of “Women in Picture” as a special category. Films dealing with the social situation and conditions of women, their unique troubles, their success and problems at work and in the private sphere are all welcome. Participants may enter long feature films, short films, documentaries, experimental films and animated films connected to this topic. There will be a special prize category for entries to this theme.
The application deadline for the September 2008 CineFest Festival of Young Filmmakers is May 31st, 2008.
