Hungary’s best design-jewelers and several teachers of art will present a dual exhibition of Christmas-themed jewelry and other works of art during the last month of the year at Sterling Gallery. Entitled “Has my milk-loaf been baked yet?”, a well-known line from a popular Hungarian children’s Christmas song, the pieces will reflect the many ways that their creators relate to the holiday.
Led by Peter Vladimir, professor at the University of Applied Arts, and his former students, Katalin Jermakov, Réka Lőrincz and Orsolya Kecskés, to mention just a few, this will be an exciting and unique forum for individual artworks with an inner, spiritual value. Clever design ideas, such as Bernadett Bodor’s silver pendant that can also be used as a tiny cookie-cutter, give us a child’s perspective. All of the high-quality design objects carry the expectation of the feast, the excitement of the preparation, the joy of giving presents, the process of heartfelt creation and the unrepeatable individuality.
Sterling Gallery offers a wide range of unique jewelry from young Hungarian designers in Budapest. The majority of the artworks are made of fine sterling silver, but are often combined with different pieces of stone, wood, bone or plastic. Visitors will also see several objects made of stainless steel, oxidized aluminum and laminated steel.
