WAMP, the Hungarian design market, will, as ever, be showcasing the local scene’s latest trends through diverse, innovative, contemporary local designs created by over 100 home grown designers. Far from a stuffy affair, strolling among the stores you’ll be able to meet and chat with the designers behind the creations on display in person.
As well as making for a visually stimulating afternoon out, something WAMP pays particular attention to is supporting upcoming, talented designers, with fashion designer Dóra Abodi presented with the WAMP Designer of the Month Award in March. Her work is both experimental and chic, encompassing luxury prêt-a-porter style pieces with handcrafted details. Innovative, experimental cuts as well as the offbeat use of uncommon materials and a taste for luxury characterizes her brand. “I use many different kinds of materials; I do not bind myself to a given matter”, she explains. She’s influenced by diverse components of fashion culture, including the ultra feminine, elegant details of French fashion, through an Italianate gripping attitude towards luxury and beautiful leather work, to Hungarian craftsmanship and an emotional, Romanian sensibility. She’d apparently like to “exhort women to be themselves, and to dare to wear exciting accessories, because these are truly able to change their whole appearance.”
Head to Gödör Klub on March 28th and meet Dóra yourself, check out her extraordinary sense of luxury and meet young Hungarian designers to watch.
