Cruelty Free Cosmetics

The largest organ in the human body is the skin: it is our number one protector that keeps us safe from dehydration, temperature, infections, and all kinds of pollutants. We have to take care of our safeguard so that it can do its job properly, and the first step in doing so is to avoid cosmetics that contain chemicals and opt for natural ones.

A great advantage of natural cosmetics is that most of them are cruelty free products, meaning they are not tested on animals. What’s more, World Day of Laboratory Animals, that has been internationally held on 24 April since 1980 when the founder of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA in short) Ingrid Newkirk first raised awareness to the brutal use of animals in research, advocates the global issue. Every year demonstrations are held to put an end to worldwide animal testing that causes unnecessary pain and suffering to the animals, and usually end with euthanasia.

Although cosmetic testing is prohibited by law in the European Union, it is still conducted in the United States and Asia. In the next page let us recommend you three cruelty free Hungarian brands whose work and products are outstanding on the market.

Manna

Run by the Varga family, the story of Manna started in 2004: a few days after Andrea and Emil’s first son was born, he broke out in a rash at home. The first-time parents decided to get rid of all the cosmetics, cleaning fluids, and other scents that contain chemicals, and use solely natural, chemical-free products instead. As it was quite hard to purchase the skin-friendly products back then, in short time Andrea started to experience with their preparation, and launched her soap-making business in 2010. Ever since then Andrea and her 9-member team have created more than 100 different kinds of Manna products in a small factory in Hungary.
