2 January is World Introvert Day, so we decided to share with you some useful tips that bored expats, locals, and solo travellers could all use.
An introvert is a person who generally prefers solitary activities to interacting with bigger groups of people, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that socializing isn’t on their agenda. Yes, they might need to mentally prepare for a night out, and yes, it is likely that they toy with the idea of cancelling until the very last minute. Still, even they know that in a beautiful city like Budapest there is so much to see and do that it’s actually worth leaving the comfort of their house. Escape to a calm and relaxing atmosphere, follow our tips!
Recharge your batteries
No matter if you are an introvert or simply enjoy traveling alone, put your favourite book in your bag, and head off to the city centre. To warm yourself up after a walk in the cold, have a cup of warm aromatic tea at the oriental Vörös Oroszlán Tea House, if only to look around and admire its cosy, oriental interior. Watching a movie alone is fun, period. Imagine: you can pick any film you are interested in, choose the seats of your preference, and no one will keep poking you in the middle of a fun or exciting scene to distract your attention. Did you know that there are some cinemas in Budapest where movies are screened in their original language? Check out Allee Shopping Mall’s cinema, and enjoy a movie in the comfort of a fluffy chair while munching on nachos or popcorn.
Culinary adventures
Budapest has a lot to offer when it comes to gastronomy. International restaurants, mind-boggling pastry shops and specialty food bars are waiting for you all around the city. Ráday utca is one of our top choices when looking for a place to eat, because you’ll find cafés, salad bars, a Michelin-starred restaurant, and even an awesome bubble waffle eatery there. Sweet delight
Visiting a museum has never been this sweet thanks to Budapest’s popular chocolate museum, where tasting is part of the tour. It’s worth leaving the hustle and bustle of the city centre and discover the beautiful building that houses the museum and gives home to special tea and pálinka (snaps) tasting events too. Once you are there, you’ll be able to watch an interesting documentary on the history of Hungarian chocolate-making, and decorate your own chocolate covered cookie.
Cultural programs
Art is fun, no matter if you participate at a painting workshop (FessNeki or MyPaint, for instance) accompanied by your friends, or decide to visit a museum alone.
