On 1-2 December an exciting world premiere will take place in Budapest. The show titled Suttogók (Whisperers) brings three world-famous horse trainers to Hungary: Monty Roberts whose work inspired the famous movie The Horse Whisperer, Jean François Pignon, master of liberty training, and talented horse trainer and stunt rider, Lorenzo.
As a child, the American Monty Roberts learned to listen to horses in Nevada while observing how wild mustangs interact with each other. Since then he successfully translated their silent language to human gestures, this way creating a harmonic partnership between horses and humans. His main purpose has always been to show the world: it is possible to train horses in a nonviolent way.
Also known as The Flying Frenchman, Lorenzo’s talent lies in his excellent sense of balance. He started performing amazing tricks and developing unique horse riding techniques when he was just a child; nowadays, he is known for controlling up to 10 horses while standing on the back of two bridleless horses. For Pignon, things took a life-changing turn when his father purchased the family’s first horse, Gazelle. The two developed such an amazing bond that Gazelle even accompanied him on his way to school at times.
Suttogók presents the story of a child in a wheelchair who is dreaming of riding a horse with hussars at the parade. The audience can follow the moments of horse training through the boy’s dream becoming reality. The two-act show takes 50-50 minutes during which spectators will witness the Chariot Racing World Championship’s Budapest round, featuring the world’s 5 best chariot drivers: the Belgian Glenn Geerts, Swiss Jérôme Voutaz, Dutch Iljsbrand Chardon and his son, Bram Chardon, and Hungarian champion József Dobrovitz.
