Natural Housekeeping Hacks

An autumn clean is essential to avoid bacterial settlement and helps you achieve a healthier winter, but before you start spraying nasty chemicals all over your home, try our housekeeping hacks and clean the house the natural way. Here is what you should use!

#1 Vinegar

Did you know that vinegar kills salmonella and the E.coli bacteria? Also, it is a very versatile cleaning product that you can use in the kitchen, the bathroom and even for cleaning the carpet. Unclog a drain by mixing ½ cup vinegar and ½ cup baking soda, pour it down the drain and rinse it with water, or remove mineral deposits from your showerhead with an easy trick: put vinegar in a plastic bag and tie it around the problematic area. Let the bag sit overnight and rinse the showerhead with water in the morning.

#2 Lemon juice

Lemon is a great smelling all-natural cleaner that contains citric acid (it is a mild acid that fights water spots), d-limonene (an effective degreaser and solvent), and lemon oil (an antibacterial disinfectant). It’s perfect for cleaning laminate countertops and cutting boards, and if you keep half a lemon inside the fridge, you won’t have to worry about unpleasant smells either. You can prevent lime scale on faucets as well, all you have to do is rub the fixtures with lemon juice and let it sit overnight. Also, if you put lemon in the detergent cup of your washing machine, it will rust deposits.

#3 Baking soda

Having the power to freshen and clean seemingly countless spots in your home, baking soda is a super-effective, gentle abrasive. It is also a great natural deodorizer and helps you banish smells from soft, cushy places in your home, too. Put baking soda on the mattress or the rug, let it sit for around 15 minutes, then vacuum it up. The list is almost endless: you can eliminate garbage can odours, scrub a messy grill or refresh smelly sneakers by using this cheap but magical product.
