Held between 15 and 23 September, the 12th annual Ars Sacra Festival puts vigilance in the limelight, helping us find the things that can pull us out from the daily grind, and teaching us how to enjoy our cultural treasures and art pieces, resulting in a richer, more meaningful life.
The festival’s mission is to revive the sacredness of Europe’s common Judeo-Christian cultural heritage. This year, visitors can choose from close to 500 free-to-attend events in over 100 villages, towns and cities: besides a colourful musical line-up, the festival will feature countless exhibitions, literary nights, theatre plays, walks, guided tours, spiritual and children’s programmes As part of the festival, one hundred churches will open their doors on 15 September in 50 locations, both within and over Hungary’s borders. What’s more, visitors can attend 44 film screenings revolving around the power of faith, the joys and hardships of life, and the diversity of human existence at Tabán Cinema, from 16 to 23 September.
