Sports in the Box

Meaning “pit stop” in Hungarian and owned by champion boxer István ‘Koko’ Kovács, BOX UTCA is dedicated to all things active.

Check out the genuine McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 car, Koko’s boxing gloves, a football signed by Figo, one of David Coulthard’s uniforms and the original 2004 Olympic torch (really!). Expect local and international channels, 15 brand-new LCD screens and two huge 2.5 m2 screens. During the month of the World Cup, games will be screened in English and German, too.

Its bustling atmosphere, helped by its ultra-central location, makes it a perfect spot to hang with mates and a beer or relax over a great meal in plush but relaxed surroundings: the place is anything but uptight and it’s a favorite spot for expats and locals too, not only for hardened sports fans. If you get hungry from all that cheering, modern Hungarian cuisine’s on offer, in the form of a permanent menu and regularly changing seasonal offerings, along with seasonal cocktails, a varied wine selection and some great home-made lemonade.

The kitchen’s a Best of Budapest’ winner. And the best is yet to come: during the World Cup, mention FUNZINE and get 20% off your purchase! Yes, it is your dream come true…
