From 4th April the 25th Titanic Film Festival brings films of 34 nations to Budapest.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 25th Titanic International Film Festival, one of the biggest movie events in Hungary offers an exciting and colourful jubilee programme from 4th to 13th April 2018. 47 films from all around the world<\/strong> \u2013 from which 9 is in competition – will be shown at 7 Budapest venues<\/strong>. The members of the jury are this year\u2019s best actress in Europe, Alexandra Borb\u00e9ly and Tam\u00e1s Dobos cinematographer, the chair will be Ferenc T\u00f6r\u00f6k director. The festival opens with Wes Anderson\u2019s Silver Bear winner Isle of Dogs<\/em>, but also here debuts A Ghost Story<\/em> starring Academy Award winner Casey Affleck and Chlo\u00e9 Zhao\u2019s The Rider<\/em> which was awarded at Cannes just as well American Valhalla, <\/em>a documentary about Iggy Pop and Josh Homme. The festival provides an even more varied selection of the most galvanizing pieces in contemporary cinema than usual. This year the audience can watch 47 films of 34 nations divided into 7 sections \u2013 In Competition, Festival Favourites, Persian Pearls, Asian Winds, The Dark Side, American Independents, Titanic Dox<\/strong> \u2013 and all films will be screened in original language with Hungarian subtitles except music documentaries and some retrospective shows. This year\u2019s festival highlight will be the mysterious Iceland<\/strong> so you can watch \u2013 beside a short film selection \u2013 Baltasar Korm\u00e1kur\u2019s<\/strong> The Oath<\/em><\/strong> in which the happy life of a successful heart surgeon comes to a crisis when his daughter Anna starts a relationship with a drug dealer. In The Swan<\/em><\/strong> a wayward 9-year-old girl, S\u00f3l is sent to distant countryside relatives for the summer where nature seems endless, the animals soulful but the people harsh. The documentary Out Of Thin Air<\/em><\/strong> is about the case back in 1976 when six juveniles confessed to two brutal murders which they hadn\u2019t committed, and Inside A Volcano<\/em><\/strong> tells the story of the golden team of Icelandic football.<\/p>\n

The retrospective screening of Xavier Dolan\u2019s<\/strong> second feature Heartbeats<\/em><\/strong> will be a special occasion because the audience can meet its star Monia Chokri<\/strong> who will be one of the guest of the festival. Chinese director Geng Jun\u2019s <\/strong>black comedy Free and Easy<\/em><\/strong> won the Special Jury Prize at last year\u2019s Sundance for cinematic visions, and Travis Beard\u2019s<\/strong> \u2013 who also will be present at Titanic \u2013 music documentary RocKabul <\/em><\/strong>follows the carrer of Afghanistan\u2019s first ever heavy metal band District Unknown. You can also watch movies from Iran, Indonesia, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Kazakhstan and Brazil, and the Belgian thriller Let the Corpses Tan<\/em><\/strong> or November <\/em><\/strong>which is the adaptation of Estonian Andrus Kivir\u00e4hk\u2019s<\/strong> cult novel. Before the theatrical release there will be screenings of the Australian drama Sweet Country<\/em><\/strong>, a French woman\u2019s thriller Revenge<\/em><\/strong>, \u00c1rp\u00e1d Bogd\u00e1n\u2019s Genesis<\/em><\/strong> or the French documentary Faces Places<\/em><\/strong> which connects the only female member of the French New Wave Cinema, the 88-year-old Agn\u00e8s Varda<\/strong> with the 33-year-old French photographer and streetartist JR<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

There will also be screenings of the documentary titled American Valhalla<\/em><\/strong> co-directed by the Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme<\/strong> about his musical collaboration with Iggy Pop<\/strong> and the fans of horror can pick unique pieces from this year\u2019s selection too.<\/p>\n

From 4th to 13th April the 25th Titanic International Film Festival awaits for the audience on 7 Budapest venues. Screenings will be held traditionally in Urania National Film Theatre and Toldi but last year\u2019s popular \u2018Pop-Up Cinema@\u00d3drySz\u00ednpad SZFE\u2019 will also be one of the venues. Shows and side events will also be taken place at Kino, the French Institute, Art+ Cinema and Magvet\u0151 Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n
