Fans of the picturesque landscape of the Tokaj wine region don’t have to wait much longer for regional treats, superb cultural events and, of course, Tokaji wines from vines growing in the volcanic lands. Bor, m\u00e1mor, B\u00e9nye festival starts just next week in Erd\u0151b\u00e9nye, the heart of the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The organisers first dreamt about this extraordinary event in 2009 which to be presented in Erd\u0151b\u00e9nye, perhaps the most magical village of the stunning Tokaj wine region. And since then this attractive settlement known as B\u00e9nye has become the venue of this 4-day long event.<\/p>\n

During the festival the beautiful gardens and wineries \u2013 each with its own unique style \u2013 are open to visitors who can enjoy a wide variety of events ranging from concerts and literary readings to handcraft workshops, bike and birdwatching tours. There are plenty events organized for children as well.<\/p>\n

While visitors can taste the products of the winemakers and wineries of Erd\u0151b\u00e9nye, they can also enjoy events ranging from the contemporary to the traditional.<\/p>\n

Here are our favourite programs of the festival:<\/p>\n

Budah\u00e1zy-Fekete Winery<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Winemaker R\u00e9musz D\u00e1vid, manager of Budah\u00e1zy-Fekete K\u00faria, bought the mansion in 1996. R\u00e9musz believes that nature along with a glass of wine is capable of solving\u00a0all problems and creating\u00a0total harmony. He will show his Furmint, H\u00e1rslevel\u0171 and S\u00e1rgamuskot\u00e1ly all from his own organic lands in Erd\u0151b\u00e9nye which he thinks everyone should experience.<\/p>\n

Opening concert with the Erd\u0151b\u00e9nye winemakers and Magashegyi Underground concert on Thursday<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The opening event of\u00a0the festival is the great (re)meeting. Meet the Erd\u0151b\u00e9nye winemakers for a tasting, garden party and concert in the splendid garden of Budah\u00e1zy-Fekete mansion from the afternoon onwards.<\/p>\n

On the first night Magashegy (High Mountain<\/em>) meets Hegyalja (Foothills<\/em>). This Thursday evening opening party with a great wine tasting and concert promises to set the festival off in style.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Bardon Winery<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Bardon Winery offers the last four vintages at Bor, m\u00e1mor\u2026 B\u00e9nye, so there will be more mature nectars alongside the recently bottled \u201915 Furmint and H\u00e1rslevel\u0171. Winery manager, \u00c1d\u00e1m Moln\u00e1r, particularly loves the people of Erd\u0151b\u00e9nye as well as the unique beauty of the landscape and its wonderful tranquility. People who are always helpful and lovely and to whom he is extremely grateful for accepting him as a member of the community.<\/p>\n

Gerg\u0151 Dem\u00e9ny guitar concert on Friday at 6PM<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Gergely Dem\u00e9ny\u2019s compositions capture the audience with their unusual sounds. Those who love dreamy, melancholic and lyrical guitar music will love Dem\u00e9ny’s concert.<\/p>\n

\u00c1brah\u00e1m Winery<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The wine of philisophers in the cellar of philisophers. But there is nothing to fear, although they are the successors of Rousseau, they do not wait visitors with philosophic work. They make wines close to nature \u2013 accepting all the risks associated with being close to nature. Purity characterises all their wines. The extra attraction for families is the great kindergarten music.<\/p>\n

T\u00f3th Evelin and Flamenco Nuevo concert on Saturday at 4.30PM<\/strong><\/h3>\n

An exceptional meeting: the traditional flamenco rhythms of dance performer M\u00e1ria Keck is combined with the wonderful voice and compositions of an outstanding Hungarian singer, Evelin T\u00f3th.\u00a0J\u00e1nos Ill\u00e9s will be playing the guitar.<\/p>\n

Pr\u00e9sel\u0151 Winery<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Exciting wines, great music in the garden, pleasant village atmosphere all in the heart of the village: this is Pr\u00e9sel\u0151 Winery and Guesthouse.<\/p>\n

M\u00f6rk concert on Saturday at 4.30PM<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cStand-Up Jazz & Philosophic Pop, whatever we call it, M\u014drk is a strange yellow taste!\u201d<\/p>\n

Extreme Pop or Stand Up Jazz, but mainly soul-funk base with free spirit. This is M\u00f6rk. M\u00e1rk Zentai (vocals), G\u00e1bor Novai (keyboards), B\u00e1lint Jason Szeifer (bass guitar) and D\u00e1niel Ferenc Szab\u00f3 (drum) quickly found their way to the heart of Budapest’s underground music scene by giving\u00a0concerts in living rooms and other unusual venues \u2013 and thus at Pr\u00e9sel\u0151 Winery, too.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Kar\u00e1di-Berger Winery<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Kar\u00e1di-Berger couple started to make wine back in 1999, first as a hobby. They soon realised that this couldn\u2019t be done as a hobby any more, but with full attention. Today they are not only one of the most prominent wine producers of the region but organize Bor, m\u00e1mor\u2026 B\u00e9nye festival as well.<\/p>\n

They bring a lighter selection to the festival: light, fruity Furmint-H\u00e1rs; their elegant Furmint Palandor; dry Szamorodni, a real classic Tokaji wine in a modern form; their pleasant Summer Wine, and the sweet Botrytis Selectio.<\/p>\n

Borm\u00e1mor evening on Saturday at 7.30PM<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The elemental power of Evelin T\u00f3th\u2019s voice enchant us,\u00a0J\u00e1nos Ill\u00e9s brings swirling guitar tunes, the music of M\u00e1ria Keck frees us all,\u00a0the beat of Gy\u00f6rgy Dragom\u00e1n\u2019s words inspires us, while\u00a0Anna Szab\u00f3 T.\u2019s wine songs, love poems and melodic verses accompany the rythms.\u00a0This will be a magical evening!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Vayi Winery <\/strong><\/h3>\n

One of the more recent figures in Erd\u0151b\u00e9nye is Vayi Winery of Kriszti\u00e1n Ungv\u00e1ry \u2013 a historian for a change who chose one of the most attractive buildings on the main street for the centre of his estate. You can taste excellent sweet wines, interesting drys and a special balsamic vinegar here.<\/p>\n

Kriszti\u00e1n Ny\u00e1ry: Real Heroes speech on Saturday at 4PM<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Can someone become a hero? And if so, how? What does it actually mean to be a hero? Who do we remember\u00a0and why? Kriszti\u00e1n Ny\u00e1ry will be looking at these questions spicing up his talk with interesting examples and anecdotes. In his books Igazi h\u0151s\u00f6k and Mer\u00e9sz magyarok published in 2014 and 2015 the author wrote about people whose lives and decisions are still good examples today.<\/p>\n

During the festival<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Numerous children events are staged for the little ones to, such as the Rutkai Bori Banda concert or Peppino the Clown. But there are also exhibitions and bike tours, communal breakfasts and talks \u2013 all of which promise to make this long weekend in Erd\u0151b\u00e9nye unforgettable.<\/p>\n

The Erd\u0151b\u00e9nye winemakers\u2019 gardens will be the venues during the festival.<\/p>\n
