Shirin Marshall: The Lost Exposures Project

Contemporary artists usually come up with surprising ideas that can sound quite crazy at first. Photographer Shirin Marshall’s spark came from a really old camera and so she embarked on a journey to the past, ending up with stunning results.

When buying an old camera from a second-hand store, Shirin noticed that a used film roll was still hiding in it, just lying there, waiting to be found. The curiosity of the artist was immediately goaded and so she decided not to stop there: she has collected 31 undeveloped vintage rolls/cassettes so far, dating back as far as the 1930s.
