Uránia will open its doors to amateur film-makers and an audience, November 19th-21st, for the 14th Faludi International Youth Film Festival. Approximately 50 films will be shown on the annual topic of the festival, Miracle, and as well as Hungarian works, films from the Netherlands, Sweden, Great Britain, Serbia and Costa Rica will feature. Members of the jury will view the entries together with an audience in Uránia, and will evaluate the films directly afterwards. The idea is for this level of immediacy to create genuine dialogues between applicants and critical members of the film profession and the public. The jury will be headed by the famous Polish actor and film director, Jerzy Stuhr. Hungarians may have seen him in several genre films and art movies; he appeared in Krzysztof Zanussi’s The Year of the Quiet Sun or Persona Non Grata. Until 2008, he was the president of the Ludwik Solski Academy for the Dramatic Arts in Krakow, and, in 1998 he was chosen as a member of the European Film Academy. The rest of the jury will be made up of Lívia Gyarmathy, Benedek Fliegauf and Ákos Lázár Kovács. For those more interested in photos than motion pictures, Miracle will also be the central theme of a photography exhibition running November 19th-December 6th, also at Uránia.
