 At 8 a.m. on January 16th, 2010, the start gate of the Budapest-Bamako opened for participants and by noon more than 200 teams has gone through to begin their journey to Africa. The goal for the first day was Mantova, where the majority of participants arrived safely.

 Zsuzsa Budai, Miss Universe Hungary 2009 and Orsolya Serdült Miss World Hungary 2009 announced their entry into the world's largest trans-Saharan rally as the Miss Hungary Touareg Rally Team at a press conference in Budapest today.
